I would like to have a membership website and some of the downloadable products, which are managed by jDownloads, are for members only. How can I achieve that?
What you need to achieve this:
1. Membership Control version 4.0 - GBP 59.00 -- > Add to Cart or Fast Checkout
2. Docman- Membership Control Addon -- Free
Both Membership Control verssion 4.0 and Docman- Membership Control Addon can be downloaded from your Download Area.
- Install Membership Control (following this instruction) and jDownloads components first.
- After you install the Membership Control component, please install the jDownloadsAddon by going to Joomla Backend --> Components --> Open Source MSC --> Addon Management --> Browse --> browse the "MSC_Addon/jDownloads.zip" in your jDownloadsAddon Zip package.
- You will then see the following screen when you install it successfully
- After that, you will need to install the updater component. Please go to Joomla Backend --> Extensions --> Install / Uninstall --> Browse the Updater component (Patch Pack\Updater\com_updater_ddmmyy.zip) in your Membership Control zip pack (you don't need to install again if you have installed it).
- After installing the Updater component, please go to Joomla Backend --> Components --> Updater --> Browse the file "jDownloads_Update_Pack\jdownloads.zip" in your jDownloadsAddon zip Package.
- You will see the following page, please select the package and click the upgrade button.
- Once installed successfully, please go to Components --> Open Source MSC --> Click the "Configuration" link of one of your membership, you will see the jDownloads Categories Management available for configurations:
- After clicking into the jDownloads Management link, you will see all jDownload Management which you have created in jDownloads. Please select the categories you would like to control and click the save button on your top right corner:
- Make sure that you have selected at least one member in the Configurations for this --> Joomla Access Control --> Members section.
- Let's go to the frontend and see how it works
- Now access to your login page by entering this link: www.yoursite.com/index.php?option=com_user&view=layout. Please login as a user that is not in the membership/group.In our case, we login as the "test" user.
- After logging into the website, please go to jDownload from frontend.
- Try to click the the categories that is under control:
- After that, you will see the following page:
- After you click the download link and accept the Licence agreements, you will be redirected to the Membership Subscription page:
- Now, in order to let the user "test" to be able to download files in jDownloads, please go to Membership Management --> Configurations --> Joomla Access Control --> Members Section, add the user "test" to the membership.
- Now the user will be able to download the file from jDownloads in the frontend.
